About Penberth Yarns
Hello there! I'm Sarah a hand spinner and fibre artist. I create handspun and hand dyed fibres from an 18th century coastal cottage in beautiful wild West Cornwall, where I live with my husband Andrew, two children, a nutty Border Collie, two crazy cats (the boys), and three fish.
After learning to knit and sew as a young girl I began a lifelong love affair with colour and texture. I have a BA (hons) in Embroidery and worked as a freelance artist for several years and even wrote a needlework book which was published in 2012. I am also a qualified teacher and I am hoping in the near future to offer online/offline textile courses.
I have been hand spinning since 2014 and hand dyeing and blending my own fibres since 2015. I love to experiment with fibres and enjoy creating unique colour ways inspired by my surroundings and
everyday life. I enjoy knitting, weaving and crochet and especially love knitting socks and always have several pairs on the go.
On the Penberth Yarns website you will find a wide selection of handspun yarns and unique one-of-a-kind (OOAK's) art yarns in various fibres. To dye my yarns I use non-toxic professional acid dyes that produce the most radiant of colours. I use low immersion dyeing techniques in my home studio and dry them outside (where possible) in the Cornish sea air.
If you would like to keep up with my woolly adventures you can find me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and TikTok
